Rebels Net Biggest Victory

Geraldine Robert made an instant impact on her debut for the Rhondda Rebels on Saturday when the former London Sting player top scored in the 40 -136 rout of Cardiff Clipper  in the opening game of  South West Regionals.

6’1” Robert top scored with 23 points and also pulled down 14 rebounds as the Rebels simply had too much firepower for the Clippers to handle.

In all 6 players notched up double figures as Coach Steve Williams ran the bench throughout the game. Italian guard Silvia Gottardi hit 22, Missy Lender 19, Nadja Morgan 18 and Lynsey Williams 16.

The valley outfit set their intentions right from the start of the game and played a very much up tempo and killed off the game in the 1st Quarter as they stormed into a 8 – 45 lead.

Nadja Morgan who has been struggling with an ankle injury was used sparingly, but the 10 minutes she did play showed that she will definitely improve the team after hitting 8 out of 9 shooting attempts.

Youngsters Jessica Gooch and Laura Staley also got on the scoring with 5 points a piece and Jessica Lacey chipped in with 8 points.
